Just got a scanmaster for my buick, did some testing with it: On some of the run's at WOT, retard degrees were at 5 and one time 6.3 with o2's from 760 to 785. On others it did not exceed 3 but somtimes a little obove 3. Running about 14 lbs. of boost from 5 mph roll. My only mods are in sig, why would the car be pulling this much timing? Not supposed to exceed 3 degrees on pump gas correct??

Goal is no KR and if any (2-4) its when the trans shifts and then goes away.
Tune at WOT in 3RD gear and look at teh average. Not usingthe recall button after you have floored it.

I.E.- WOT in 3rd look at teh SM and if teh numbers are 736, 742, 759, 741, 738. Then you know you in the low 740's high 730's, granted that you are using the stock narrow band and its not a WB.

Its best to have the chip burned with the fast update mode as this helps greatly.

IMO add fuel or take away until you are a little fatter than the 780 ish range and then tune from there.

Remember 3rd gear WOT not 1st and second. With that said lift if you see KR or hear it:eek:.

Be safe and careful with this as you will be moving at a high rate of speed and its best for a safe area, track etc.

The car still seems to be above 3 degrees after third gear shifts with o2's in the high 700's. Degrees don't seem to drop after it shifts unless the frame is just too slow with my current chip... Just dont want to wreck anything.

Might be false knock. Try some 110oct. fuel or some BP93. Could be a little bad fuel. Did it just start this if so it could be bad fuel , or false knock

get under the car check everything for clearance. get some good gas and bottle of octane in there just to see.
take it out on the freeway and run it up and down. you will see some false knock. 3 is not so bad on 93 gas.

when was the cars last tune up? im guessing its a stock chip, if it is its time for a replacement.

Just hooked up the scanmaster.

Clearence is good under the car. My trans. shifts pretty hard so this must create some false knock. I usually have 92 in the car. 93 is harder to come by.

Ive had the car for a yr and have got a boost gauge earlier this summer and a scanmaster just recently. The previous owner put an eprom chip for my 36# bluetops in the car... I would like a different chip from what I hear but don't completely understand what I need yet.
