Is normal for your to scanmaster to give multiple readings for spark advance? Like 25.5 to 30 or should it stays at a set given number? Mine does the first example.

Is car fully warmed up when you are getting changing readings?

If car is going from cold start ,higher rpms to lower rpms as coolant temp increases, it would be fairly normal to see changes in the timing readngs.

170+ degrees and idle is 800-850 rpm. Chip (TurboTweak) is in open loop. Thanks for the reply. If there were to be a problem, what would be the most likely culprit. I get no trouble codes with SES thru the aldl, but multiple codes with Turbolink. So that must mean that the codes on turbolink ar'nt getting stored.

The timing at idle may vary a little with rpm. The timing may go up a few degrees if the rpm creeps up. The 25-30* range is about right. If the idle isn't smooth, check the O2's when you come to a stop in drive, when it goes open loop, I like to see around 750-800. If it's leaner than that, then we may need to look at other things.

The multiple codes in turbolink are probably from the fast update code in the chip for the scanmaster. If you have an older version of Turbolink, it's not compatible with the fast update code. In other words, the codes are not real.

Thanks for jumping in Eric. Your response helps greatly. It's nice to illiminate possible problems. There has been times when the o2's get lean when they should be rich. I have a hood mounted fuel gage, but I can't notice anything there. That is my next step, because I can't find anything wrong with wiring in the engine compartment. Problems like having a bright green eye on my delco battery and 12.8 volts, then turing the ignition and trying to start the car. Only to end up with a dead battery with 4.4 volts. This would be immediate, not after cranking the starter for long periods. Then I would charge the battery and try to start the car. Of course this time the car would start right up,only to have a cut-out under load. Don't know what is draining the battery that fast, but it must be a dead short somewhere.

Yeah, voltage problems will cause the injectors to operate inconsistently and may cause lean/rich issues.
