The 86/87 is different part #, it might fit maybe work but I would stick with your year,model. Find out if they did in fact give you wrong unit. The 160 is tricky that way, I didn't like how it ran when i had it. I haven't tried it yet with TT chip in it now, I wouldn't want to IMO.
I'm a firm believer that the piston rings have to get hot enough to expand and seal. Which to me, means better compression and all around good for the engine.
I will admit 160 stat did feel a bit stronger but at idle, you could smell gas in the exhaust, idle would be a miss(rough) Mine you everything was working find until said swap out. This is why I only advise getting stock or 180, some using 160 do ok but to each his own.
160 for power, drag
180 for mid, daily
192 (stock) for MPG, mild
I read, you want a hot motor, cold intake charge, I believe this is right on the money.
