I have a question about my scanmaster and wideband. I recently went to the track for the first time with my new motor and here is what I seen. I ran at WOT the entire 1/4 mile and the whole way down the track the wideband was reading 10.3 (FULL RICH) and I could feel it in the car. After getting to the end and recalling the o2 on the scanmaster it was reading 746 which is a little low ( I THINK ) to be safe. Which one of these is more accurate with the readings? I have been told the wideband is most accurate, just want to make certain before I blow it up. If the scanmaster is correct then I could use a little more fuel but I could tell the car was VERY rich. Could someone please let me know which one to read? By the way I was only running about 8 - 10 # boost. Fuel pressure was 44# vac off.

Thanks in advance for the help,

Rick

Why so low on the boost? What brand is the stock o2?

Trust the wideband. It's more accurate at wot.

I would expect it to be rich at that level. Turn it up a little. No?

I have had ALOT of trouble in the past ( before the wideband and bad grounding problems ) and I guess I'm scared to break something so soon.

I think the it is a Denso or it could be a Bosch not sure which one I have in. Don't remember what color the wire is.

I want to turn it up but I'm new to these cars and am NOW scared to death of knock becasue of the past. (It has cost me thousands of dollars)

If it matters, the car has the following:

All New
Forged Stroker crank
Forged Scat Rods
Forged JE pistons
Steel main caps
Alky injection
ported polished heads
ported intake
roller cam and lifters
and much, much more

Lots of nice parts!

What do you have for a fuel system?

I currently have a Walbro 340 with stock lines 3/8 supply and 5/16 return. Also have Caspers Volt Booster if that matters. I want to upgrade but not sure what to use for the best results. Everyone has a system that works but I'd like to know the best for the money.

I really appreciate the info.
Thanks, Rick Headrick

You can go pretty far on the stock lines and a good in tank pump. If your running alky, it is recommended not to run the vb.

With alky, you should be able to run 20psi with ease.

I do small wot blast in 3rd. With shifter in drive, get rolling about 45mph and lay into it. Try not to down shift. You want full load on the motor. Do short blasts while watching afr's and knock. Take it a little further each time. Tune for 10.8-11.0

You get that, your done. ;)

Thanks for the info that hepls ALOT. I ran the car a little this evening and turned it up to around 16 psi and only had knock 1 time ( NO ALKY ) and it was .8 which is not bad, but would be better if it were 0. I have not done it in 3rd gear but I will soon and I'll pm you if that is OK. I may also record a run on the powerlogger and send to you. Will that be ok? I want a safe tune so I don't break anything.

Thanks again for everything,

Rick Headrick

Post up the log or feel free to send it to me. By all means, I would glad to take a look.

I am attaching the data log I got tonight 9/09/2010. Please let me know what you think and if everything looks OK. I was running around 15 PSI on 93 w/Alky. The 9-2010 pass was a 1.78 60' @ 108 mph. The second pass was a 2.3 60' @ 110 mph boost was around 17 psi, I have done NO tuning on the car other than boost and alky.

Thanks in advance,

I tried to attach last night and it did not seem to work. I think this will do it if the folder is opened and the files are dragged to your PL folder. (Someone most likely knows an easier way than this)

Thanks, Rick

Logs look good. I don't see any real issues.

The first one your temp was 203. The second one it came down. Did you forget the fan?

Need to tie into the map to read boost.
