I have spent the last 2 hours drilling, or at least attempting to drill, out a broken off tap inside a threaded hole. My fingers are having a hard time typing since my hands are so sore.

1/2 way there.

AAAAAaaaaaaaarrrrrrrrrrggggggggghhhhhhhh, I hate steel. Lets go back to wood. Drilling was much easier in those days, although wooden engines wouldn't last long.

That sucks. I just bought tool to remove them about a month ago. before that hammer and punch. most taps are carbide unless you got some high end drill point titainium . the carbide will shatter the titainium wont. good luck

Next rest....lol.

I bought a carbide tipped drill bit....cost me $20.25 plus rip off freight of 10 something....total plus $30.

I'm amazed at how SLOW this is....I swear it's wearing it off, not drilling it off. Stupid tap.

I lied about it being 1/2 way last time...NOW it's half way. Or else I'm getting goofier. I thought once I was 1/2 way I could back it out since the outer part was the thicker...but nope, still stuck.

Next time you hear from me I'll either be dead, fingerless or it will be out. Thanks for the good luck wish.

Okay....for the 22,301 people who were laying awake and betting that I'd die first, or it would come out.....YOU LOST.

Now go to sleep and dream sweet dreams. :)

Congrats on your victory. I've had that happen a couple of times and the instant it snaps I break out into a cold sweat with the realization of the effort it is going to take to correct the problem. While performing what should have been a 15-minute job on my other Buick I snapped a bolt off in the head. I ultimately had to take the head off and bring it to a machine shop. Good times.

I had to finish it. I don't think crazy glue would have held on the flexplate. :)

Thets lookin like one a them thar new fangled drillin machines. Ain't teknology grate. I were justa turning the drill bit with ma fingers sense ah caint' affort no teknology.

I feel for you bro. That is one part of my previous {auto repair business} career that I don't miss at all. Not being GM biased here but it seemed that Ford V-8 front cover or water pump bolts would always break...
