Some of you may or may not be aware of my recent brake bleeding problems to the rear cyls.

So I decide the Junkmaster is not working and go balls deep into the vacuum brake conversion project.

Plus a new brass porportioning valve stirred into the mix - 'cause the old one dont seem to work.

Well I get the lines disconnected from the master cyl - and would you believe what I found when I removed the line for the rears ??????

A NAIL.

Thats right....some clown before my time puts a nail in there then screws it back into place on the master cyl - blocking all fluid travel to the rears.

Unbelieveable huh ?
Anybody know if you can use the old GN brake pedal for the conversion to vacuum brakes...I will be picking up a master cyl / vac brake booster tomorrow at the wreckers from a Monte or NA Regal.......

I just dont wanna crawl under a dash to get another brake pedal is all...

Bought my 1 owner 84 GN from my brother who swore nobody had ever worked on/hacked it only to find the x-over pipe had been cut in half & reassembled with a Campbell's can & a couple crusher U bolts and 1 of the rear slave cyls had an easyout crammed into it & broken off. My take is buy it new or face the wrath!

I guess it's sort of a poor man's line lock. You must've not been able to hold boost very well off the line. With no rear brakes you can powerbrake at 60mph and smoke the tires.

No No

I never drove it like that - only maybe feet to a trailer and feet from trailer to my garage.

The conversion is all completed now.

I highly reccomend it to anyone with Junkmaster problems.

It wasnt that bad....cost me 70 USD and a few hrs of my blood, sweat and tears.
