So i put my car up for sale a while back on craigslist. Not many calls because of price and the market aint so good. I forgot about it, but i get this call from some company that will sell my car for $200 up front. First thing i think is scam. they say they are part of ebay motors and will place my car on 15 major websites. with a 90 day money back guarentee. So sounds like a good deal, but now im not sure cause I still kinda want to keep my car. Its already nicely setup. And i figure if i sell now its gonna be hard to find another, if the market ever picks back up. So i tell him i cant do it right now because im driving and cant give my info even if i wanted to do the deal. He say can you pull over and do it. Now thats a red flag. So i say send me your info and web adress in an email. and i will check it out. Still havent gotten and email. He told me he would call again this afternoon. I'm not really feeling it. And still thinking i should keep the old beast. anyone ever hear of compaines doing this and them being legit

Look up "car consignment scam".

This is just a variation on a tried and true ripoff.

Run the other way.

its in storage 2 hours away haha. She stays up north. because i work in Harrisburg. Where crime and storage prices are both high.

I hate selling stuff on CL, nothing but scammers constantly. Sounds like you should keep the car anyway.

Give him an address of a friend that believe in self defence. If you want I'd be happy to let you have mine and in Texas, we've got castle law, which means once he's on the property it's shoot to kill if he doesn't have permission.:D

That is the guy from Pasadena that defended his neighbors domain. Look it up. Excellent audio of the 911 call he made. Worth the trouble.

Scam, you don't need help selling. If you find a buyer and agree on a price, it shall be sold. Not a hard concept.

I cant wait till all states have the same law as texas.

Freaking lousy bastards will get theirs and crime will go down

i had a talk with this guy. I looked up the website looked reputiable, united auto exchange. But my gut told me not to, plus i want to keep it. He was fast talking and kept saying 15 major websites over and over again. if its a good deal it will sell itself. I told his assistant i didnt want to do it. And he calls me back all pissed. Saying you were ready to do it. I told him i thought it over and i wanted to keep it. And he was PISSED. Well if he would give me a second to talk i would have told him no.

i listened to that youtube video it was kinda hilarious. I know people died, but he sounded crazy

I guess I might be the only one but I fault the 911 operator. He didn't take the call seriously, and persisted to reaffirm the caller with more fear that he would be shot and killed ..

FAIL....

Biggest think to remember is when using craigslist. ONLY DO TRANSACTIONS IN PERSON. I was selling my truck last year had companies like above calling to sell my vehicle and then the other scam when buying you have people sending you emails saying the vehicle is in another state cause they just moved. BUT they have a car shipping company willing to ship the car to you for no charge.
Send them the money and they will ship out the car YEAH.....
