For all the buick enthusiasts out there! Just wanted to let you guys know if you install a hitachi psl 100 in a hot air ( i don't know if intercooled is the same) you have to modify by cutting, or grinding the aluminum block closest to engine crank case. I just found out today when I installed it in my 84. Seems the crank case has some casting flash that is in the way, rather than mess with my block I cut the mounting block on the starter, being it can be replaced easier than the crank case. Thanks to all for great info! hope this helps somebody! good night.

right on. why did you go with the hitachi and not our comon mini starters?

hitachi psl 100

I went with the hitachi because i had an extra one that was for my buick with a 327 c.i. chevy. I saw on here that one could use it for buick 231. My starter was begining to go out, by saying starting to go out, I mean, when i would drive around and buick got hot it would not start, until it cooled down. At first it would start by jump starting, then it got worse by only starting after it cooled down.
