Hey guy on base we have paint and body shop. They use Sherwin William paint on base and can get me everything I would need to paint my car for 500 buck which I thank is not bad. What I would like to know do you guy like or think that Sherwin Williams is a good paint and if so do any one have paint code for our cars. I have someone that's going to do all of the paint and body for 1000. To 1500 in all is not bad. An yes I have seen his work. Work at one of the best shop in town but going to-do it on the side for me.

Duplicolor is owned by them and I heard they are getting into the car paint market

Sherwin Williams has been in the automotive refinish market for years. Martin Senour Paint is made by Sherwin Williams. The last time I sprayed SW was in 2004. I know the basecoat reducers have changed and I am sure the clears are different now. When I was in SW paint school, they had stacks of unreleased clears they were testing. I was never impressed with SW. The basecoat reducers use (used?) parafin wax for metallic control. The clears were preflexed, which IMO scratched easy when washed (light spider web scratches), also with the combination of the wax in the base and rubbery clear, it stone chipped easy.
For $500 make sure you are getting A line products not value line stuff. And for $1000 labor, make sure you are going to be happy with it. I have had alot of people have friends paint their cars after getting my $5000 minimum, and in the end, they wish they would have spent the $ with me.

People have no problem paying $5000+ for an engine, but they never want to spend the $ on the most time consuming part and the first thing people look at, the paint and body.

Thank you I will look for another kind of paint, to use. I was thinking about getting ppg to do the job. The painter works at the shop that I was going to take my car to get it done at. They told me 3500, to do my car and he would have been the guy doing it. So just cutting out some of middle man (meaning shop cost) to save some money and for him to make some extra money for his upcoming wedding. What brand or kind of paint do you think I should use.
