Well I started to install the CK Performance shift kit in my valve body today and noticed something very strange. I was checking all the valves to make sure they didnt bind and found 3 springs behind the TV Valve. The manual only shows one. Also when I removed the TV Plunger spring a metal tag fell out that said "shift kit patent number*******". This is very strange. I am guessing it is a Trans go shift kit thing but the valve body has not been drilled like is required in the older kits. Also the TV Plunger spring is very short. You can move the plunger 1/4 inch before the plunger makes contact. Please call me ! I am seeing some springs that are not the correct color they would be if they were stock. I dont want more trans problems again. Please call me at work 011496371475145 or 011496371472064.

Thanks,
Brian

PS

Anyone ever seen this before?

Remove the brown spring in the nose of the valve, as well as the blue and orange{maybe red} springs. Just leave the cone shaped spring that is stuck onto the valve there {i think it's black}:D

Generally the stock TV spring behind the TV plunger is white in color and measures out at 1.900 free length.

I dont really remember all the colors of the three springs there but I do know that there was no small yellow one like the book shows. I have seen my other valve body I have with a yellow spring there also. The springs are very large and sit on the valve land. The plunger spring is not white. It is a very short brown spring. Have you seen this before? Is it a trans go kit?

Thanks

It sure sounds like you have the trans co / trans go kit. Don't worry that the valve doesn't have the yellow spring that the book shows. Just make sure the only spring that you have on that valve when it goes back in is the conical spring {possibly black, i won't know for sure till i get home from work} it will seam like it is stuck to the valve.

As for the TV plunger spring. The trans co kit {green box kit} doesn't have you replace the tv plunger spring. The trans go kit i think has you replacing that spring, it's dark red in color and measures out at around 2.06 free length. If the TV spring measures out between 1.900 at 2.10 you should be ok.

SPRING COLOR

I will check the colors tonight when I get home. I have 2 more hours here and then I am off the shift. I dont remember seeing a conical spring though but I will confirm that when I get home. How about the metal ID tag in the spring from the kit. Is that normal or was someone just looking out for whoever?

Thanks

You won't have the yellow spring that you shown me, because the valve is changed in the trans co/go kit. They tell you to discard the valve and the spring and then you put theirs in. Their valve {trans co/go } is a black color.

As for the tag, They tell you in the kit to just put it inside of the TV plunger spring { the reason is to tip off other trans builders that the Valve Body has been altered from stock}.

reversable?

Do you have a copy of the instructions for this kit? Just wondering what else was changed. Thanks for any light you can shed on this.

Thanks,

Brian

blackplague I Pulled tv valve springs

Ok I pulled the springs and valve to look at them. The valve springs are: 3coil heavy red one, small coil light red one and a natural color short spring with a larger diameter than the small red one. The metal tag reads"Shift Kit US PAT 4711140-SK".
Also the tv valve is not black. Ims their valve any different than a stock valve. Do know what other mods this shift kit has you do, such a springs for the valve body?

Well i got things off on the wrong foot

I was giving you the info for a 700 instead of the 200-4r.

Here is the Straight Story: The Tv plunger spring should measure between 1.900 {stock} to 2.10 {most shift kits}..

The TV valve should be the stock valve in both the trans go/co kits. I would leave the tough 3 coil heavy spring out, but install the other two. Don't worry about the stock spring not being there.

The other springsin the valve body that are modified in this kit are: SK=shift kit

2-3 shift valve: stock is a yellowish spring { SK blue or Red}
Accum Valve: {SK brown}
Line Bias: {SK Beige}
MTV downshift: stock there is no spring {SK green}

Thanks for the info. Is there anyway you can email me (pm me for address) the instructions. Ok now we know what springs have be replaced I wonder if I will have problems with the valve body shifting correctly with the CK Performance shift kit installed. I wish I knew where to get the old stock springs if I need them.

Thanks Again!!!
