I just bought a 1986 GN with 25k on stock tranny rebuild with heavy duty clutches and new stock convertor. The owner did not install a shift kit since he thought it shifter pretty firm to begin with. I want it to shift pretty hard in all gears. The 2-3 shift it a tad lazy. I have made sure that the TV cable is set up in its tighest position that will allow the TB to open all the way. Is it too late to install a shift kit and tranny cooler. I want the shifts to be firm for normal driving and for them to bang in heavy footed situations. I also dont want it to hurt the tranny any. I put a shift kit in my 1969 Firebirds Th400 and it had 115000 on it and after it the tranny was slipping bad. Also should I check the governor to make sure its the right one for a Turbo Buick? Thanks for your time fellas!
