shifter handle spring

The spring under my shifter handle broke, and was wondering if anyone knew where to get one, should I just replace it with a spring from the local hardware store, or does anyone else know of anything better to use (seems kinda flimsy and cheesy)

I think he's referring to the spring on the bottom of the J rod?
