shifter linkage adjustment

When I want to manually shift my car i naturally put into one, (duh) and when I do, the shifter won’t stay first; it pops out and pushes itself into 2nd. If I hold it into first it will stay it, but how can I adjust this so it says in first on its own?

Let the car shift first..

Do yourself a favor and let the car shift in to second, and then just simply shift from second to third. The rev, limiter comes up real quick in first gear in these cars.
