shifter won't go into 1st

Decided I would do a bit of maintenance and upgrades today. I removed my console to clean it up and try to figure out why my shifter would shift without depressing the thumb button on the t handle. I found out the detent bar that is fastened by two screws had come loose. I put it back in place and put the console back in. I also had the transmission pan off for a fluid change and shift kit install at the same time. When I was all done everything seemed to be fine except I can't move the shift lever into 1st gear position. Anybody have any idea what stupid thing I may have done? I don't know if it related to the transmission pan being off or the shifter detent. I can't bring myself to start taking it all back apart - especially the trans pan.
