With some creativity, a Hurst quarterstick can be used witha fitted console. IMO, its about as good as you can get when it comes to a race shifter for an auto trany.
The only shifter I have been able to use with the stock concole and still retain an unmodified console plate is the B&M Quicksilver, it is not the best looking but it is functional. I tried a Quaterstick which is a superior design but the stroke was too long on it and I had to make a new trim plate.

I used the Quicksilver....at Kent Rudbeck's recommendation. It works perfectly and "almost" fit under the stock console plate. However I did end up having to cut the plate and used the cover supplied with the Quicksilver.
I spoke to Dave Fiscus at BG 2 years ago...he uses the Quicksilver also and he got his to fit under the stock console perfectly and still retained the stock plate. He wisely cut off the mounting tab that the stock shifter attached to on the floor...and was therefore able to bolt the QS shifter directly to the floor and got that extra ½" of space needed to fit everything under the stock console.
If I were to do it again Dave's is the method I'd use.
Well, this makes me feel pretty good. I got a quicksilver in the race car and it didn't have the console with it when I bought it. It looks like $hit without it. At least I know I won't have to screw around with my consol when mounting it. It will bolt in.
