Shifting From Park

Hey Guys/Gals,

I am having a problem with my 93 Buick Regal GS - when I try to shift from park to any of the other gears, the transmission does not go into gear - the car goes into gear only after a couple of minutes.

This only happens when the car is cold (in the morning). It seems like a valve is worn or something. If it is a valve - how do I replace it?

Does anyone have a clue?
