Shiftpoints way high on wot, fine otherwise??

O.K. I'm asking this for a guy I sold my car to. Car was shifting funny before buy shifting to quickly through the gears. He and I were both told that it could be the TCC sel. Well he had it changed and it fixed that problem BUT now when he goes on a wot pass it runs away on the rpms.

What could it be, this is a new problem and I'm trying to help him out with it. He told me he wants it fixed before some mustang pulls up beside him, he not being able to do anything about it.

Too high? What rpm is it shifting at now?

He really didn't say, the way he made it sound is that he's actually getting out of the throttle before it shifts. He was scared of messing something up.
I'm not really sure what to tell ya other than the the rpms run away on the shftpoints on wot and it shifts fine on normal driving. Before changing tcc sel. shifts were fine other than when it got hot it would shift through the gears almost suddenly when taking off.

Ask him how high he was going before letting out. Also ask him if his car still has the original engine valve springs.

Kinda sounds like it has slung the spring out of the governor. If he drops the pan and removes the governor, it will likely be wrapped around the speedo gear. Not uncommon, mine did it.
