Well, here lies my Green T that ive been working on over the past year, BROKE.

car drove fine, just the shifts used to be really really high, trans came from a stage car, he burned out the front seal, i staked in a new one, worked fine for 25 miles.... I dont drive it, car sits, only 3/4 throttle one single time.

fast forward to 25 miles on the trans after finding the gov fell apart, used to upshift at 4000-5000 RPM , GOV was working?

well, now i start the car, stage right trans brake works fine, reverse works fine... but im afraid to drive the car in reverse because i wont be able to get it back in the driveway...

IF i leave in 2nd gear, remember car has brake, the car will die everysingle time it moves 6 inches.
at one point in time i remember hearing metal on metal, but im not sure.
car has a 10 inch non lockup convertor, used to stall about 4000 rpm in my old car.
almost sounds like something is loose up front in the trans, like pump or converter "chatter" of course its a non lockup so im confused.

wont make a sound in idle park
wont make a sound in reverse, or trans brake applied-

what could make this car die at 6 inches, example, when i let off the gas pedal?

gov fell apart again?
i think i PMd chris718 about a gov stake, still havent heard.

want to get er dun for BG

Something to ck anyway.

Converter locked up would cause this scenario.......I do not mean lock up clutch, I mean locked up turbines inside the converter. Especially since you heard noise from that area..
I can't see it being govenor.
Could be wrong, but I doubt it.
Also could be rolled front input sprag. That would do it also.

Just some ideas.....

Stupid question but...

You didn't blow the differential did you? Maybe a tooth or so gone?

Thanks for the reply-
hmmm, no the rear is fine it came from another car and drove great.

This brings up some memories.... i just remembered now that you mention it, when the trans had the old art carr convertor, it shelled that art carr convertor, like something is looooose inside of it...

i cleaned out the front pump and valve body, but didnt tear the rest of the trans apart, tearing the rest of it apart is beyond my capabilities right now...

so then i put in my 10 inch non lockup which was working fine in my old tranny, into this one... so i guess now this convertor is fubar too. just my luck!
that really puts a damper on getting it fixed, i was hoping it would have been something simple...

since the old convertor is trashed, and most likely this one is too, what should i tell the guy who is going to rebuild it?
is there something he should specifically do to keep this from happening again?
i just dont want it to eat a 3rd convertor....

Thank you for your time
