I am following the advice of Bruce, by shimming the TV Cable due to shifing problems from lack of TV pressure. I have just inserted 2 rubber washers, but dont think it was enough.

Should I try metal/plastic?

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks,
-Bob

Metal only! Thickness can be up to 1/8th inch.

Thanks, Bruce. Do you use the factory recommended way to set the TV cable, or do you try and set it manually?

Thanks,
-Bob

I set it by pressure. Then drive to make sure they relate to each other. But that is me. I would do it by shift point and custom tune to each individual. But, again, that is me.

Shims

What about the little spring loaded deally that a trans shop sells? It goes on the end of the TV cable and has higer pressure at part throttle, but standard at WOT.

My biggest problem with trying to do it manually and (keep bumping it back for more pressure) has been that I reach a point where it "corrects" its-self by ratcheting foward again, thus going back to factory method. It's usually when Im getting closer to what I would call "better" shifting and firmer shifts, but a little more TV and it would do it, but thats when it's too much and self-ratchets back. Im hoping this shim will do the trick.

Thanks again,
Bob

Where the TV Cable bolts to the transmission. You will see there is already a small black shim (or should be). Place the new shim on top of it. You can avoid having to completely remove the TV cable by just cutting an opening in the shim (washer). This has ben my experience, anyway.
