Shipping Question

Ok, me and another member on the board are trying to get the best qoute for shipping. I am buying a complete rear. I know some people on here have had engines shipped and freight that weighs a lot. What company's do you guys use? So far i have been geting qoutes that exceeds the price that i am paying for the rear. I even tried RL carriers and they were to high. Basically it will be travelling from Michigan to New York. So if anyone knows a cheaper carrier service that travels that way. please chim in.

Search Yellow Freight, Roadway, FedEx Freight, etc. Try and find one that has a hub near your house that you can pick it up at. It is much cheaper to pick it up there than have them drop it off at your house. Also, if you do get it shipped, decline the offer for them to call you when it gets there, many companies will charge $40 just for a phone call. All you need to do is follow the tracking and call them everyday.

One thing that will tremendously lower the cost is Pickup and Delivery to and from business address.

I just shipped a trans (180 pounds with shipping crate) Mich to Montana. Used Yellow Freight, dropped it off at the Pt Huron terminal (which is only open from 4:30-6:30 pm), shipped it to a "business" address
( ), (that means they don't have to use a liftgate at the delivery point which costs more), and the cost was $262. (tell them you want the "yes" discount). That was for regular shipping. You might want to try their "exact express" service. The rep you talk to on the phone can tell you all your options/prices.
