I took the 200-4R out of my 85SS 2 years ago. I drained the fluid and set it on the shelf. The trans had been rebuilt sometime before I bought the car. The I.D. showed that it had been in a Cad. at one time. Now this trans. worked great for the 3 years that I had it in the car. This past Aug. I put it in my sons 67 Chevy p.u with a 350\ramjet int. on it. Now it short shifts. Tried a stock SS governor, that didn't help. BTO sold the kid a diff. t.v. valve, and a stock t.v. cable. That didn't work. My thinking is that one or more of the valves in the valvebody is hanging up. But I'm not sure and so far my sons phone calls to the "gurus" have not turned up anything to correct the problem. Does anyone have any suggestions. TIA!
Second trans. prob. 200-4R in a 87 Monte SS. Short Shift Also. After a basically stock overhaul about 9 years ago the trans. developed a short ****. At the time the car belonged to my bro. He got a shift kit from I think it was Gil. Never got rid of the prob. he changed the gov. and even went back in with a B&M kit. Could get the trans to behave diff. but could never get rid of the short shift. I had the trans o\h to stock 2 years ago. The trans. shop changed nothing in the valvebody. Still had the short shift. I installed a "GN Gov." and that helped but did not cure the problem.
I would think that there would be a cure for this Short Shift issue because I see alot of other people on other sites posting that they have the same issue.
Also does anyone have the trans. pressures and what gear and rpm these pressure checks should be done at. TIA!
