I can get a 200R4 for $50, it is stock with 30k Original Miles on it.

I wanna put it in my car which currently has a TH250 or a 350, my uncle claims a TH250, but I will find out for sure soon.

I have heard so many things about the 200R4 having problems, I dunno if I want it or not.

should I bother or not?

It'll be powered by a chevy 350, with some bolt ons for now. lil more upgrades down the road.

Should I go for the 200R4 in my car, or not?

Any advice is appreciated. :D

Well they aren't very strong stock. You have to put a bit of money into them before they can handle anything. My 87 Cutlass has a stock 305 in it with 120k miles and it was babied for the first 15 years until the old guy sold it to me but the transmission was screwing up even when i first got it. It's almost gone now. I'm putting a TH350 in it this winter because its financially my only option. My winter car is an 83 GP with a 3.8 v6 and a TH250 and its got over 200k miles on it and the transmission is fine even after quite a few brake torques.

A good running 350 should kill a 2004R a lot faster than a 305, they have a lot more torque. My friend has a monte ss with a mild 350 with a stock cam and vortec heads and he killed 3 2004R's with his engine

A 200 needs more mainline pressure before it can handle anything. If you install a good kit and Pr vavle spring to raise the pressure I dont see why it cant handle a 350 even the hard parts should be ok for a mild build
