ive had some ac delco stock plug wires on my car that i got from autozone for about 4 months. i havnt noticed any problems with them. are these holding me back? i run low 13 to high 12 in the 1/4 should i upgrade to a bigger wire? whats the best plug wire for a tr? thanks

i called kirbans and he said hes running either 11's or 12's w/stock sized wires so i say if it aint broke dont fix it.

Lot's of people over the years have amused me with putting 10mm wires on our cars. They'd try to get bigger ones if they were available too. Why??? I've never seen anyone gain anything from such a huge wire, other than making it look almost tacky.
Any quality 8mm to 8.5mm will be perfectly sufficient! If you have doubts, put an ohm meter on them and see how much resistance they have. The important thing is that they are a good spiral core wire, with a good boot and end connector. I've had success over the years with Taylor, MSD, and Accel. Again, this is another example of "bigger ain't always better". I am putting a new set of the MSD red 8.5's on my new setup when complete. The set was only around $60, and looks very nice. Don't go and spend some exhorbinant amount of money on something you don't need. But, at the same time, I would not go and buy AutoZone or other Retailer's house brands either, unless it was for a regular non-performance app.

Oh stop it. Compared to my Taylor 409 Pro wires(10.4mm) "regular" 8mm wires look positively puny. They may not work any better at all but they sure do look BAD! :p

This is funny because a long tiime ago I was looking for new wires so I went to the Magnecor website and read a little about the wires.

Turns out the the sizes have the same center conductor, only the inslation is thicker.

Well, okay Mark, I don't know if you need those whopping wires from a performance standpoint, but I will say they do look nice on your ride. Routed very clean! As for the rest of your car's pics, well, I saw them and had to drink something to replace all the saliva I lost while drooling! :D
Your car is gorgeous!!! Inside and out!!!

JToups386,

Thanks for the kind words.

Glad you knew I was just kidding with ya. :)

Regards,

Just wondering where you bought those wires from? I'm looking into buying some new wires & would like to hear opinions as to the best wire for the best price & where to buy them?

Thanks,The Darkside

I've ordered them from Motorsport Technologies, 281-870-8787, since I hang out at their shop just about every Saturday. You can get them from any MSD dealer though, or Jeg's, or Summit, and so on. The price is about the same everywhere.
