My tranny guy recommended that I disconnect the factory cooler and replace my after market cooler before using new tranny. He said he can't completely flush/clean the coolers. Tranny has broken fin in convertor and fluid is grey and he says to be safe and eliminate any left over sludge or metal going into fluid system of the new rebuild. Anybody else do this?
Thanks
Tim

Yes, that is a very good idea imo....I did the same when I had my tranny redone.

I was talking to v8Killer today and he told me about a Ford inline filter for the transline. Seems like a nice way to protect the trans cooler(s) from getting full of junk if the trans goes bad.
