I just ordered a new Stage 2 transmission from Extreme Automatics. I want to be sure that this tranny gets the correct cooling. I have ordered a Tru Cool 4590 cooler to mount in front of the stock radiator. I prefer to bypass the factory cooler and use only the stand alone LP4590 due to the fact that I may have metal debris in the factory cooler from destruction of the old tranny. The old tranny had lots of metal in the pan. I have a new convertor also and I plan to run a clean flush on the existing cooler lines with alcohol. Do you guys think this tranny will be ok with the stand alone cooler.
What is the best way to install a temp.gauge?

If running a cooler as a stand alone I would look into thr b&m one with fan.

Your going to need a cooler of at least 20,000 btu rating, if you live in a hot climate your gonna need a much higher rating,
Most accurate temp readings are from the pan, I advise going through the radiator with the external unit.

Replace the radiator and run both.

I run a derale -6 dual pass cooler with a 9" high output fan. -6 trans lines with the trans adapter fitting to put -6 fittings on the trans! I run NL trans never sees over 170*

I agree with Nick , You will have to spend more money But a radiator and a external trans cooler will be great insurance . I know , the spending never stops . Good luck which ever way you go , Keith

Correct statement. Spending never stops. OK , it looks like a simple oem replacement is not available?? Suggestions with maybe some relief in price that will protect my investment ?

You can use the f-body radiator, a lot cheaper than the stock radiator.
