Ok, so if the 60's are the size of choice, what about the add'l power needed to run the extra height? I have heard that you need much more power to run the taller tire. Any comments?

60s work for me too, with a minimal amount of rub at the R/R. Just shot a touch more air in the bag and it was gone. (15lbs)

Looks great Wayne!

275/50/15 BFG drag radials on 15x8 weld pro stars , they look great very wide, i needed to run a spacer since i was told the wrong B/S, but funny you post this cause i got the new summit in last night and i was looking to maybe go with a taller tire since i like the stance of the car, it isn't to hopped up in the back. but what i dont think i would like is that they are thinner then the 50's by 1.2" so i have till spring to decide. but the 60's will not jack your car up in the rear that much at all.

I am confused by your comment that the 60 series are 1.5 inches narrower than the 50 series.

The 50/60 is in reference to the sidewall height, not the section width. Both are 275 so both have a 10.82 "section width".

I looked up the def of section width and got this - This is the width of the tire in millimeters at its widest point from sidewall to sidewall when mounted on the recommended rim width. The actual tire width can vary depending on the rim width it is mounted on.

If both a 275/50 and 275/60 are on the same rim in theory they are the same width, the 60 are just 1.08 inches taller side height.

I went to http://www.1010tires.com/TireSizeCalculator.asp?action=submit and compared a 275/50 to a 275/60 and width is the same.

275/50/15 have a 10.0 tread width but the 275/60/15 have a 8.8 tread width on the Drag radials those where the tires i was talking about. but not sure on any other style tire. that is what i read while on the thinking chair yesterday :D which confused me a lil because 275 on tire math is the width 50 is the profile and of course 15 is the diameter for the rim, so if your telling me that 275/50/15 are the same width as the 60's just shorter then i will be going with the 60's and since i have line lock they will be the same height as the 50's in one day

Renthorin,

I have 265/50/15's on STOCK GN rims. They look great imo and no rubbing issues. They are BFG T/A's. Sorry no pics. I also would like to see some pics of STOCK GN RIMS with the 275 60 and 50 since I am going to need new tires soon.

I run 235/60's up front and they would be about 3/4 of an inch taller than the 265/50's.

275/50's are only a slight bit shorter than what I have on there now. 275/60 would be almost 2 inches taller than my front tires.

Scott,

so many questions.....

1) stock GN wheels are 15x7 right?
2) are yours widened?
3) what size are the front tires?
4) does the car sit level?

Sweet car by the way :-)

Renthorin,

Yes, stockers are 15x7 as are my fronts. The fronts have 2356015s on them and the car is perfectly level. I sent off my old rims to True Design Wheel in CO and they completely rechromed and powdercoated the center of the wheel. Then, they put a new outer rim on it (7 inch fronts and 8 inch backs). They have done hundreds of sets of GN wheels and I made sure that they knew I was putting 275 50s on the back so that they would get the backspacing correct. I was leary of scrubbing because I had a previous set of aftermarket wheels that did. Long story short: No scrubbing at all and a perfect fit in my opinion.

Thanks for the complement. I'm really fond of the stock look.
