Got a quick question. I see that when you update your signature, it changes for all of your posts for a long time before. Since we all mostly rely on them for the advice we're all asking at the time, doesn't that kind of screw up the historical database that is this site, for the next generation of lurker/searchers? If I go in and read a post where a member asks "What's a good spark plug for my combo?" and it's from 2001, and the dude's got a stock turbo with 20 psi of boost with a kenne bell chip, seventh injector, and stock everything else, and people say "a one heat range cooler ac delco." but he's updated to some crazy wild combo 10 years after that with 200 psi of boost, with an alky extreme chip, and it changes his sig back then, won't the next reader stumble upon a question and answer combination that makes absolutely zero sense? The answer from back then won't fit his current combo, because it's been updated. So now some dude with the same combo (200 psi on an alky extreme chip) is going to put a one heat range cooler delco plug on his combo and blow it up.

What I'm asking is, would it be possible to keep our signatures updated to only posts made after that update? Does the software permit that?

Good point. I've always wondered the same thing...

If someone searches a post, reads it, and then decides to go with info in the sig, he's not that bright. That's why they can ask questions.;)

You shouldn't have to. You shouldn't have to bring back a thread from 200 years ago because you're not sure if their current combo was the same from back then. If you just found a way to keep the sigs current for that timeframe, it would be all said and done the minute you finished reading the 25 year old thread.

It's probably a space thing. The sig is just a pointer to your profile I suspect. If everyones sig was part of the text in every post, the cost of disk space would be tremendous to keep all of the old posts. Normaly when someones posts, they should indicate what their current combo is in the post description rather than someone assuming its for a car in their sig.

That very well could be the case. I had to ask though in case it wasn't. So then now that this is unchangeable, should stating your entire combo for every advice question be SOP from now on? Otherwise when we look back in time for case precedence lol, we're not left wondering why someone suggested a pinion snubber for some guys' twin turbo LSX build lol. Or 36 pound injectors for a PT88 turbo. Just a thought I had. Not really important I guess.

Your sig should have nothing to do with the posted info. If it does...that means that a guy who once ran a ta49 and old ALKY system cant comment on a thread asking about those components, because he now runs c16 and FAST?!?!?!?
Info is info regardless of the sig. If I saw an answer from a guy with an "outdated" combo...I prob wouldnt listen to it anyway. If the guy answering had a killer new combo listed...I would feel much better about his advise.

Just my thoughts.

Huh? You signature has nothing to do with the posted info?? Lol, it does if you're the thread starter. Which would be the ENTIRE REASON for a signature... And a combo that a guy once ran has nothing to do with his comments to the OP. I'm talking about the OP's signature not anyone elses. It's very relevant to the question that he's asking. That's why he put it there in the first place.

The question I had was that it changes the way people can view a question and answer if the op kicked the question off with " 'based on my combo' should I do this, or this?" and then changes his sig 6 years from then, and now the question won't make any sense if I go back and re-read it. All I'd have was "based on my combo" which was say a ta49 w/36 pounders w/ 29 psi at the time, and the answer could have been back the psi down to 22, when his combo now reads "PT100GTQ with 200 pph injectors. Well backing the psi on that combo down to 22 doesn't really make that much sense now for the original problem he initially described. See now? For historical data to match and make sense, it has to remain the same lol. If in 8 years you go back and change one thing to that equation, it'll make as much sense as a screen door on a submarine...

An easy work-around going forward would be to copy your (OP's) sig/combo into the post when asking the question. That way, if the OP were to upgrade and change his sig, the combo pertinent to the question would not change...........

That is, if it was really all that important in the first place........ :D

Sorry, but I still dont see the issue. If the post is old enough, I would search for newer info or send the OP a PM.
If you view it differently, that's ok. Each person does research on here differently. I have several threads with that statement in them, and now I do not list my combo at all, so it may seem confusing.
As for the screendoors...our Govt is getting quotes as we speak... from Flex-Seal...hahahahaha

Flex seal lol. And speaking of Gov't bids, let me tell you how jacked up THAT business is lol. "We just don't have the money." Wow, really? You need money to do it right, and if you don't have the money, it'll get done, just WRONG? lol. I love it....
