im about to order my slicks but dont know if wether or not to buy tubes and screws aswell or do i even need them thanx also im looking for a scan master anyone that's is selling or that knows were i can get them cheaper can you plz tell me thanx guy's

Unless your making some real power you don't need them. That soap trick does work if they leak down. I've heard people say they get better 60 ft. times without tubes aswell. Frank:D

but if ya do run tubes, by all means use screws! (if the tire rotates, you'll break the valve stem....)

thanx guys i just wsnt really sure what to do so konow i will order my slick's and hopefully get better et's thanx

"Screw the wheels"??

I've done some 1.40's at 3700# and have neither tubes nor screws in the wheels...  I've also used the Lemon Joy.. it works!

BTW, LOSE the snubber!!;) ;)

Ive never run tubes or screws with 1.41 -1.49 short times .I do use a bead sealer and lemon joy

No one has mentioned tire pressure yet. Just my experience since it was the first time I have used slicks. I tried pressures of 16,14, and 12 in my 28x9 MT Drags on a stock T rim. I marked the wheel and tire with a marker line. It did appear that one tire slipped on the rim about an inch with the 12 lb tire pressure. So it may be necessary to run the tubes and screws with less than 14 lb tire pressure with 1.7X and lower 60s. Anyone else care to elaborate on this?

i don't run tubes or screws in my slicks...and they don't even leak one bit...i didn't even use that soap trick you are talking about...hmmmmm:confused:

MT ET Streets here for 2+ years....no tubes no screws no slippage, and I coated their insides with the green Palmolive dishwashing soap...no air pressure loss even thru the winter.

Regards, Bob

Soap opera??

The soap appears to seal the tiny pore in the inner facing of the tire and prevent slow air loss.

As for the snubber.. They were used on 60's leaf spring suspensions. Using it on a 4 link only imparts high deflection loading into the control arm bushings.
it's bad enuf that the upper and lowers are unequal, and thus try to change pinion angle when the axle moves.. Adding the snubber stops the suspension from working.. To demonstrate this, make a cardboard replica of a 4 link and see what happens w/ and without the snubber..;)

I started at 15lbs of air and then worked my way down to 14.5lbs got a 1.6 on my 60ft, but the tire moved about 1/2" (10 psi launch!) but was racing all that day and did it did not move any more than that. But did noticed a lower air pressure will have more chances of the tire to slip. I was going to screws but don't wan't to drill the new rims  .
