slipping

hello loking for some advice. trans works great in 1st 2nd. but 3rd and 4th seems to be slipping. give it gas in 3rd or 4th and the rpms go up but the car does not pick up any speed. stock trans i believe.i put 20,000 miles on it since owning the car, installed a higher stall converter/3000. time for a new trans or replacement of items. thank you.

higher stall means more heat in the case and on the soft parts....heat is the almighty killer of trannys.....espacially od`s...does your new conv lock up??is it maybe converter slip that u r feeling???

Slipping in 3rd and 4th points to the dreaded high/rev clutch pack. Rebuild time.

was afraid of that but knew sooner or later this would happen. but whan i get a new trans car will be better than ever. thank you.
