SLK Denatured Alcohol OK???

I've got the SMC kit on my car. I was told any denautred alcohol will work, so I went to Home Depot and asked them to show me what they had. What I got was a big metal can of SLK Denatured Alcohol from the paint section. There are warning signs all over the thing saying to use only in well ventilated ares, poisonous, flamable, etc. Is this ok to use? Should I mix with water and how much? 50/50? Thanks!

slk is fine to use.i would just run it straight without water but you have to mix some clotz lube with the alky with the smc kit i think?

Do not use any water with the SMC pump or you'll ruin it.

Yes you can use that type of alcohol adding a lubricant. The SMC lube is Klotz. If you dont have ant Klotz, you can order it from SMC. In the mean time, a lot of us ran WD40 or Marvel Mystery oil until the Klotz became available.

Wow, I didn't know I needed to add a lube. How do I apply it and in what dosage? I need this for tonight. Can I get the clotz stuff locally? I'll get WD40 if not. How would I apply the WD40? Thanks!

One ounce of Klotz per gallon of alcohol.

I just got your progressive kit in. Great quality BTW. Would I have to mix anything with the SLK denatured for the pump supplied with your kit? What kinds of store bought alcky would you reccommend running with your kit? Preferrably something from Wal-Mart, Lowes or Home Depot. This is only till the local dirt track opens because I can get methanol from there

you aint gotta mix nothin with razors kit. as far as what alky brand to use, dont think it really matters, i get it were ever its the cheapest.i ussually pay 6 bucks a gallon.

Yup.. run it straight.. it looks like clear water.. Lubes can cuase issues with plastics.. zero lubes plez
