Sluggish 2-3 shift, will a shift kit help?

I have a 200 built by GN Restorations using a $700 California Performance Transmissions kit. The trans does great on everything except for the 2-3 shift which is slow. Would a shift kit help this problem? I have a friend that builds transmissions and he said that when he built a lot of 200's(non BRF, just regular 200's) years ago it was common for them to have a sluggish 2-3 so he used a shift kit in all of them he built to help with this. Is thsi true for BRF 200's also? WHat shift kit would you guys recommend? Thanks
