small chip 4 86/87 ECM swap?

im about to undergo the 86/87 ECM swap in my 85' GN. i have a new 86/87 PROM for the new ECM, but my question is what do i do for the smaller chip? can i use the one that is in my 85' ECM or do i need an 86/87 specific one?

I assume you're talking about the calpak? I used my stock 84 in the 87 computer with no problems. Though if my PROM ever failed I doubt it would run very good with 60lb injectors. Mine also ran fine without one installed but it set a code and if the PROM did fail without it the car would be dead.
