Smoke on startup

Im gettin some Blue smoke at startup.....Then it goes away...Car goes good...NO scan tools yet....Black smoke sometimes when u let it off...Seems to be runnin rich....Any ideas/? Motor was just rebuilt 3,500 miles ago.....

Check your oil. Mine was doing something similar,checked my oil
smelled like gas and kinda watery .
Changed the oil and no more smoke .

A thought

I would also change oil....Could be on starup that the
oil seals on the vavles are seeping so slightly.

But I wouldn't worry about it. Might want to pull plugs and have a look. Could be fouled or dirty from fresh motor.
Look and re-gap them.
Last, and most inprttant is you didn't menion a fuel pump.

Change that if you didn't....Just a side note.
New motors need to break in. Too many guys go straight to
running them Just my .02 cents worth. HTH'ed

Valve guides/seals?

Yes on the valves there are oil seals that control oil from getting into the spark chamber.

occasionally they will draw a liittle oil on vacumn.
such a starting up.

But it was just a thought to look at the plugs,only because you didn't state what or if anything had been done.

I could be wrong.....Was trying to help.
