Here's the story.
Couple of days ago I drove my car all day and came home to find oil pushing it's way out of the vacuum block on top of the throttle body. I figured that it was a PCV problem, so i went out and got a new one. Local parts place didn't carry anything but FRAM, so I got a new FRAM PCV and put it in after cleaning out as much of the oil from the throttlebody etc. as possible.
Today I took the car out for a few hours and it started blowing out smoke (from the tailpipes) at idle. Pretty bad, actually. Smoke was rolling up both sides of the car and stunk to high heaven. When I would get going it would stop, but the next light I would sit at, it starts again.
Got home, pulled off the uppipe, no oil in it, but the throttle body was coated again. Cleaned it out and plugged off the PCV, and ran the car for 15-20 minutes. No smoke. Hooked the PCV back up and minutes later it was smoking again.
I guess it's possible I got a brand new PCV that is defective, but figure that is unlikely. Thoughts?
BTW - I have K&N style filters on both valce covers. If they have gotten oil soaked, could they not be breathing properly and causing this problem.
Also, brand new turbo, no oil in IC or up-pipe.
