So Whad do you do/Whats your Occupation

I'm 18 years old, just got my drivers license for my birthday, and a the title to my 83 TB:biggrin: which is going to be my senior project. I take an Auto Body Rebuilding Course at a local technical college and will be graduating from high school with not only a freshly painted 83 t-type, but a degree, a certificate of competancy, and the skills and knowledge to repair cars to thier factory specs. I plan on renting a storage unit to work on cars, and perhaps flipping cars as well. (LEGALLY so i dont get into trouble with the 5-0)

So what do you guys do... and doctors, dentists,officers of the law, mechanics, autobody specialists, coocks, pilots, aspiring artists, aspiring singers, entrepeneurs, superheroes, tornado chasers, Gigolos, painters, chromers, fast food workers, managers, all around rich people, 24/7 lazyasses, matress testers, people still living at home OVER 19, stoners, health inspectors, presidentual candidates, COD workers, vetrinarians, gynecologists, boring office workers, window washers, technician, 9-2-5ers, Rappers, judges, performance shop owners, farm workers/owners, ECT, WHAT do you do!!! (just Curious)

16. I earned my ASE master certificationthen started figuring out that you cant really make a good living around here working on cars unless you own your own shop. So now I am an Industrial Operator at an ALCOA carbon plant. We operate heavy equipment, process raw material and make carbon anodes. I am about to become a Control room/Board operator. Yeah the auto mechanics are getting the shaft . Forget about dealerships, most people dont have the cash to take them there. Independant shops are better, but people still dont have the cash.

Back to the original question. I've worked at tool rental places, fence companies, cabinet shops, trans shop, Toyota dealership, labored (sp) for a carpenters union, and now I'm working at Gbody. I have a passion for cars (even more for FAST cars), even though they are a PITA I still like working on them. In ten years who knows what i'll be doing , for all I know I could be dead .

OP, auto body is cool, people are always wreaking their cars, just get in a good shop and do stuff on the side for extra cash flow. Maybe eventually open your own shop.

I am a Sales Manager at a talent agency in Hollywood, Ca. I am ASE certfied in parts but there is nooooo money in it at all. Good luck with your endeavors in the automotive field. If you wanna make money doing body work, get in good with the lowrider/donk/custom scene. That market is still booming right now. Learn how to do the little things like pinstripping pearls and fades. This will make you stand out from the run of the mill body man.

Full time student, 3 Years at a GM dealer in highschool getting the shaft, interned for a year at Corp. Caterpillar Mossville, IL Technical Center Doing Experimental and Pre-Production Engine work, while getting my Assoc. In diesel and Heavy Equipmnent, now finishing up a bachelors in Diesel and Heavy Equipment Engineering, most likely accepting an internship this summer Doing Equipment Management at Kiewit Construction. I have found you dont want to spend your life in a shop it kills the body, but some people wouldnt have it any other way!

an aircraft painter. I work for the navy as a civillian painting F18,P3,H60,EA6B aircraft or watever else they roll in the hanger. You don't get rich working for the government but the pay isn't to bad either.
