Soft Shoes?

When you guys are talkin about "soft shoes" are there different replacement shoes I should be buying other that stock? Right now I do have the 84 S10 manual brake rear cyclinders, but am using stock replacement pads, although I am using all four larger pads. I didnt really notice much improvement from original. Was I supposed to get S10 pads too? -I'd like to get as much holding power as possible. I'll never intentionally be driving this car in inclimate weather, so I'm not worried about too much rear braking power.

So far, with the set up I mentioned, I was able to go 1.60 on 28" slicks launching at 10psi. Would like to launch @ 15-16!

Just go to the Auto parts store of your choice and get 2 sets of ORGANIC brake shoes. The shoes themselves are identical in size but the "meat" (the portion that makes contact with the drum) isn't. You'll notice a longer arc of "meat" on 2 of the 4 in each set. Out of the 4 shoes included in each set, use the 2 shoes with the longer arc of "meat".

Because you bought 2 sets, you will now have 4 long & 4 short brake shoes. Put the 4 short ones back in the box and return them for your core. Install the 4 long shoes on your car, and return the old ones from your car for the other core.

Thanks for your reply Geoff, I did already do exactly what you had indicated, but I did not ask for "Organic" pads, do you think that if I did not specify them, and simply requested two sets of stock replacments, that I already have "organics" ? Should they be cheaper I'm guessing?
