Solid flat tappet cam and a solid lifter w/ the oiling face provision on top of the lifter. Anyone ever used this setup on a LC2 engine? Debating with someone...

Why not?? You would need adjustable rocker arms like
T&D or Scorpions to get the necessary lash adjustment.

I haven't heard anybody in the TB community doing this, but it ought to work......and you wouldn't have to worry about lifter pump-up.

As far as I know, the same cast iron cam core can be ground into a mechanical flat tappet grind.

Terry Ryan did this about 15 years ago, I would think it is very possible.

I've read about you before Neal in a CC magazine, an article called "schooled"

You've got a good memory, that was a while ago now. The article was about my buddy Jason Hall's '87 Limited. Ah, the good ol' days... :D
