Ok, thinking I got lucky with my car no major rust yet, just some were the paint chiped from flexing. I do know about the leaks, went to the car wash(hand wash) went to take off and got drinched in water. Avoiding the T-Tops when I was it now, they get hand wash no power wash. Another thing i had to do was take the drivers sunvisor out. It was so lose when I would take off it would almost hit me in the head, heard this is a because of the T-tops. O-well gives the car some character:D

I've had sunvisors do that on hardtop cars, not just g-body either. Try tightening the screws on the base, that worked on a Caddy I had.

No I never said that at all. Quite the opposite. I have owned 28 we-4's, 1 moon roof & 2 soild roofs. The rest all T-tops I would guess from what I have seen more then half were t-tops.
I think most we-4's ended up in the mid atlantic area.
This is just an educated guess of what I have seen online, worked on, seen at shows, etc from being around these cars. This is not fact just my educated guess.

Damn Jim by now I figured you would know it is Weaver Not Weavy ;)

We just cut a T-roof off a GN & put it on a we-4 t-top car that was rotted out. Plan on spending about $1600-2000 to go back to a t-top car from a hard top car. It depends who does the work, & the condition of the roof you buy.
To go from a t-top to a hard top once again it depends on the person doing it but I would say about $300 for a the roof & parts & about $700-1000 in labor & paint.

Like stated find a hard top we-4.

Damn I wished there was only 100.Then I would have a turd that would definitly remain a t-top.I very seriously doubt this will ever happen but I just wanted to gauge the responces.I love the car and only want the best for it in the future.I got screwed bad by the jack ass I got it from but my wants where more than my needs and I wasnt going to leave Columbus Ohio without it.I have spent alot of time troling this web site and enjoy reading what everybody has to say so I will start to post a little bit.I belive I have a picture of the car on my computer when I find it I will post it.Just do me a favor and dont laugh at its pissy looking silver bullet paint job it currently has.

don't feel bad, mine was a real rust hole and everything was t rashed. I overpaid for the pos. Got about 6k into it so far and the body isn't even close to going on the frame. You feel better now????

...My car needs all sorts of attention and this was one of the things I was concerned about.I bought the car back in August in Ohio from a dip sh1t that just about ruined it(I think he just taped the windows and sprayed the hole car silver,,trim and moldings and all.)... There is a little rust where the seals are on the drivers side t-top so thats what started making me think about converting the top.I have a body repair education and so does my freind that would be helping so I would be doing the work myself...

Now, let me see if I have this correct??,,,

1) the car looked like this when you bought it--so your dip sh1t rating of "seller" is likely over-played,,,

2) existing rust visible @ purchase to "experienced body person"--should be no whining here,,,

3) you likely thought you bested-him for this "cheap purchase"--but perhaps got stung more than wishful thinking,,,

Good luck with either the sale (recommended), or the transformation to hard-hat type...

I believe I'd just clean-up the silver monochrome theme (maybe even redo some/most of it--go all-the-way??), silicone seal the T-tops/ leaks, install a good stereo, slip in a Lynard Skynard "Freebird" CD, crank up all boost options & enjoy it--(then sell it...)

I guess he wasnt as much a dip sh-t.He got me.But I am beyond that.I will make the best of the car I can its not about to fall off the frame or nothing. It has a very small rust spot uder the seal and I am capible of fixing.

Brian, you told me that when we were talking about Ben's car, that you hated to cut it up because there were only about 100 made!

Was I drinking? Must have been to say that. I may have said out of the hundreds of cars I cut up that was the first we-4. It killed me when the owner called me & told me he had the title.

Great job! Love to see them revived!

Brian, I am sure you said that because I kicked myself in the a** for trading it to him for a hardtop GN after that conversation. Hell, I even almost bought one this year just to hold on to a few months ago but I didn't have the money. Unfortunately, that was the second one I know of to get cut up. Brian, I'm not trying to start a fight, maybe you were drinking that day.

You have me there. At least I can drive mine and do about 4 times a week.Your car looks great by the way.
