The following are readouts on watches showing military time. Logic should tell you what time the fifth watch should show…

15.14.01

12.18.00

08.26.58

03.42.55

??.??.??

Hmmm,
Welp, I doubt this is anywhere close but yatta hey!!

22:14.???

Doh, no clue on the seconds.
This would be a messed up shift for sure in the service.

I'm going the other way...

0.28.51

Logic... who needs logic.. I can just look at my watch:tongue:

Exactly, it reads MIL time anyway. LOL
:D
Durn brain teaser 10 minutes before 5 on a Friday.

Looking at the patterns, I come up with a couple of plausible answers.

I'm gonna predict 22.07.51 OR 21.14.51

fyi, my

-- 1st prediction is based on patterns in the DIFFERENCES between stated times.

-- 2nd prediction based on patterns in the "as is" stated times.

It's gotta be 22.14.51

hours sequence is -3, -4, -5, -6
Minutes sequence is +4, +8, +16, +32
Seconds sequence is -1, -2, -3, -4

so 03.42.55, 03-6 = 21, 42 + 32 = 74, 55 -4 = 21.74.55 or 22.14.51

I'm with you. 22 not 23? hmmmmmm

21.14.51

The seconds decrease by a factor of one (first by 1, then by 2, then by 3), so the final seconds would be 55-4, or 51.
The minutes increase each time by twice the previous difference (first by 4, then by 8, then by 16...). So the final minutes would increase by 32, giving us 42+32=74. Since we rolled over past an hour, the actual minutes displayed on the watch would be 14.
Finally, the hours decrease by a factor of one, beginning with a difference of 3 (then by 4, then by 5). The final hours would be 6 less than 03, which in military time is 21. Simple, huh?

I'm with davzGN

I don't see how you could logically conclude that it was the 21st hour and not the 22nd hour.
