My trans has 3000 miles on a complete rebuild. I dropped the pan to replace the filter and fluid. In the bottom along one side and in the corner a thin layer of caking. The magnetic drain plug had it also. The fluid did not have any unusual odor. I am using type F fluid. I do not drag race any more. I do WOT run on the street I live on when I return home from a cruise around town. I am in the mind set that this cake is heated fluid with metal dust. Is this normal and does it stop? Should I change the fluid more often? TIA

A pic would help a lot. There's usually a thin layer of dust on the pan, and some stuff on the magnet is normal as long as the pan is not full of bronze and silver. Does it go way? Nope.
