I currently have an internal wastegate and it is too erractic. I think I should go external. But what are the differences between a wastegate and a racegate. How big of a puck do I need. The internal that I had was 33.4 mm. I couldn't keep it under 15psi of boost and I need to run at 13 psi with pump gas. Who should I get a gate from and what size?

You could probably fix the erratic integral wastegate. The wastegate hole might not be large enough to properly control the boost. A turbo shop can enlargen the hole for you.

The Racegate is a wastegate that Turbonetics sells. The other gate that they sell is the Deltagate. There are other external wastegates out there that are much better quality.

The puck size is not necessarily the # that you need to be concerned with. You should be concerned with the amount of gas the wastegate can flow.

The HKS GT wastegate, for example, has been used on 800+ horsepower Supras with no problem.

There are many other companies that sell wastegates:

The hole on the exhaust turbine has been ported as far as I can port it. In fact it was too much becuase when the turbo got warm enough I would lose my boost. I beleive because of heat expansion that the puck wouldn't completly cover the hole. Being that the puck was stainless and the turbine is cast. I tried everything to eliminate this. The only way my boost would not be lost is if I wired the puck shut. I can't have the hole smaller then my creep will just get worse. So I must go to external.
Thanks for the info. I take it HKS is a good one to go with.
