Hey DCEPTCN, I hear ya man. Isn't it funny how some people will argue with you until you make an ounce of sense and then they dismiss you as "hopeless"? Every religious nut I've tried to have a civilized discussion with at a certain point just throws his hands in the air and basically gives up, by saying I can't understand and they just can't explain their "faith". I often wonder if christianity hadn't been forced upon so many early on in this country, how many people would be christians? What if the "popular" religion had been satanism? I bet there would be more satanic people today. People are sheep, and they follow the herd.

Upon discussing beliefs with some, I've been told that if a person had no knowledge that religion even exists and died, he or she would go to heaven because they had no guidance to lead them the "right" way. Based on these beliefs, this person would go to heaven based on ignorance of the religion, but I will go to hell for not believing in god. Riiiight. OK then. Apparently faith also causes lack of ability to use logic. Listening to there fanatics and really reading what they have to say gives me the impression they have been brainwashed. Thats how so many of them act.

I must confess, I do feel a little hypocritical. I celebrate Christmas and also the hebrew holidays. My stepfather is jewish, and he basically raised me. I don't believe in the reason for the holiday, but rather I celebrate what it means to me: Being with my family, and being grateful and appreciative of what we have. I think it means different things to everybody. Plus I get cool presents!:D
Seriously though, since my family has so many members with different religious beliefs, I've been exposed to many of them. I think jewish people give much more respect to other religions. Most of the christians I know basically say its this way or hell, no ifs ands or buts. But the jewish people I've talked to seem more open minded, and will respect the fact that you have just as much chance of being right as they do. I like that.

First off Brick, we are not saying who has done it yet, but the evidence is voluminous.

It's might be in everyone's best interest to say what you've got to say, or shut up (no offense intended). The hints, threats, guilt-trips, and misguided jokes seem to be backfiring.

If you're trying to give "someone" a chance to come clean, you should have done it privately. Calling them out pubicly won't likely work and it causing a LOT of collateral damage. It's digging a deep hole for this board and the community. :(

Don't self-destruct taking care of the problem.

Good Luck.

I've heard the same thing from most preachers

Upon discussing beliefs with some, I've been told that if a person had no knowledge that religion even exists and died, he or she would go to heaven because they had no guidance to lead them the "right" way. Based on these beliefs, this person would go to heaven based on ignorance of the religion, but I will go to hell for not believing in god. Riiiight.

I've been told the same thing by several preachers after which I respond by informing them that by 'spreading the word' they are actually sending those of us who were already going to heaven through ignorance, to hell, if for some reason we don't agree. Yeah.... Thanks for saving me buddy, if I would have never known I would still have gone to heaven as long as I lived right. Yeah, thanks for frickin nothing. LOL :D :D :D

Disclaimer: I in no way am saying that your religion is not "THE ONE" because I don't know. There could be nothing but infidel hell waiting for all of us for all I know. I just think in most religions there are items that just make absolutly no sense and its hard for me to buy into it when I see something that doesn't sit right with me.:D

I've never found a preacher or otherwise who could explain this to me so why don't you give it a shot. Hypothetical.... You have a person born in a country who is a good person that never does wrong and contributes greatly to his fellow man. He lives and dies without ever meeting you and learning about your religion. Does he go to your heaven or not?

No he would not and this is why.
JOHN 14:6
Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the father except through me. If you really knew me, you would know my father as well.

If you say no then I would have to say that your god is a cold hearted sucker to not let a guy in just because nobody never told him about it and through no fault of his own. I would be amazed that you could buy into an all knowing god that would not let someone into to heaven just because they never met you.

Man is responsible for his own Free Will, all we have to do is look up in the sky and imagine space forever and ever with no end, the moon and the love it has for the ocean, the trees and the life they give us. You see the flesh dies but the spirit when clean and righteous lives forever.

Everyone wants to attack this religion and that religion. It is not about what religion.
James 1:26
If anyone considers himself religious and yet does not keep a tight rein on his tongue, he deceives himself and his religion is worthless. Religion that God our father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.

I am not saying that you have to be a Christian to go to heaven. However Scripture teaches us, you must have faith in God and faith in Jesus to get there. There are many types of religion out there some good other bad. All i am saying is what I have studied and learned by trial and error. The bottom line grab a bible and start to read it, make it your religion if you want but know the word, respect the word and repent for any sins. I am sure will need my armor on for this post.

However you guys need to see what i am putting on the line.
James 3:1
Not many of you should presume to be teachers, my brothers, because you know that we who teach will be judged more strictly. We all stumble in many ways. If anyone is never at fault in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to keep his whole body in check. When we put bits into the mouths of horses to make them obey us, we can turn the whole animal, or take ships as an example. Although they are so large and are driven by strong winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the pilot wants to go. Likewise the tongue is a small part of the body, but it makes great boasts.

Amen

I thought that was a very good explanation of religion. It is just that. What you make it. And your replies to the questions were answered to the LETTER with FACT to back it up.
Yes this got off track but I like to see and BE REMINDED of some things sometimes. I think this is one of those times.
Kudos NJturbo, Kudos........

to the gentlemen who replied "shemhemforash".i too know what that means and if that is your belief maybe you should fly down to san francisco and team up with anton lavey and he can mold you into another richard ramirez.the world needs another one .now grow up because if you really saw the devil youd probably pee your pants and ask your mother for a pacifier malakismeno.freedom of speech ,your entitled to it ,freedom of religion you got that too...........just repect my freedom to disagree with what i find to nonsense after my god given mind processes it .so in the words of our fellow board member DCEPTN shemhemforash.....all hail satan?why dont you contribute something to the board that will benefit us for the reason we are here turbo buicks.i am not singling you out, either i am and have been just as foolish if not more foolish at times than any other people on this board, and have fussed and bitched about other peoples opinions because they werent mine.as time passed i learned something here at turbo buick .com that has nothing to do at all with buicks..everyone has the right to their own opinions and the use of their god given and granted thought process .it is when it becomes a thorn in someone elses side or a personal attack that it becomes a protrusion into the other persons space and that is not a humanly nice thing, because some thick headed greek like myself thinks i know everything and no one elses methods or procedures work as good as mine.i have since reevalulated how i deal with others and have reaped tremendous mental ,spiritual and emotional rewards from this experience.i hope others will follow and realize it is traumatic to the mind body and spirit to have that type of a thought process going on in the confines of the human mind ,and takes way too much effort to be evil than it does to be kind .evill ,bickering and allthat other bull we do takes planning , and thought and good comes out natural without a quarrel.in a world of borrowed time where the clock is ticking to our deaths from the moment we fall out of our mothers vagina ................it makes more sense to do what?you decide .proverbs are read on a regular basis by me and are in my opinion one most precious bits of wisdom i have discovered as a human being going through the evolution of the life process.

Chris, you sure you're not high?;) I knew you had to be Greek with that last name!!!

While everybody is throwing out their religion I guess I better say mine before people start ASSuming things about me...... I am Serbian Orthodox..... Try finding a Serbian Orthodox church in your area:eek:

plenty of serbian,ukranian,cro/ats and others around here.this is nyc.have a good friend who is serbian, eugene gabelika.what does koorats mean?

B]No he would not and this is why.
JOHN 14:6

Well, I have to commend you because that is a first. Most preachers go the other route but what your telling me is most of the people on the planet that your god created are not going to heaven, not because they were bad people or anything but, because they haven't met you and read your bible. So a young child who is born and dies in Africa in a tribe who has never heard of you or your god will not get into your heaven because he hasn't tried to seek you out and read your book. Condemned to hell because he never met you. Wow, your god sounds pretty heartless to me. Do you really think he works that way??? I guess if your book says it, it must be true. Hmmmm.....

I am not saying that you have to be a Christian to go to heaven. However Scripture teaches us, you must have faith in God and faith in Jesus to get there. Yeah, you don't have to be Christian, you just have to believe in my god and his son or you go to hell or wherever. Hmmmm..... Seems to be a common theme among most religions, my way or the highway. Hard to have much faith in your god knowing he's going to condemn someone to hell just because they weren't provided with a copy of your book. Gee, I would think good deeds and kindness to your fellow man would count for something but if you don't got the book, your screwed....... bye bye By the way, how have you learned this through trial and error? Have you died and been resurrected several times or what??

I thought that was a very good explanation of religion. It is just that. What you make it. And your replies to the questions were answered to the LETTER with FACT to back it up.

et tu Bruce.... You would condemn the poor African boy who died before you could get him a bible. You really think an all powerful god would work that way??? I do believe that your 'Facts' are definatly open for debate. Think of all the Africans, Indians, Chinese, etc etc. that must fill the rings of hell or wherever. Condemned by a religion and a god they never even knew about. God sure did create a lot of different people and cultures just to send most of them to hell. Well I would think by your rules there’s probably just as many good people in your hell as there is in your heaven (matter of fact there might be more since most of the jail inmates seem to find Jesus while there in prison) so I won't lose any sleep over it. Good discussion. Very thought provoking. You are both very wise and learned in your religions and I commend you, but excuse me if I would like to believe that if your a good person and do good deeds you will make out alright regardless of who's book your reading.:D :D

Chris, Koorats means wrong and KURAC (sounds about the same) means big d!ck:eek: I know most of if not all of the bad words so if you have any questions feel free to ask:D There is only one Serbian church in this area and it is all the way down in North Miami (I've been there several times with family)....

LOL! My dad just told me Koorats also means slut.....

(Guess it just depends on the dialects in different areas)

i have a biblical name........... i thought i would add this to the discussion

Like I said before, all this has been discussed...here's a post from just two months ago http://www.turbobuick.com/forums/sh...threadid=100166

The problem is no one cares, no one listens, no one really wants to know the truth. All they do it sit there and think what they are going to say next or TRY to just come up with something funny (non contributor). I've been debating God, Christianity, Anti-theism, agnostism, and such for over 5 years on here. Same old story.

Turbo Mike says

And what about people in the world that will never have the opportunity to be "witnessed" to. How can one make a choice to accept the Lord when they might not ever hear about him? Doesn't seem right either........

That question is brought up alot. The Bible teaches that anyone that TRULY seeks God will find him. For some in far away tribes it will be missionaries. I had a missionary tell me a story about a tribe that was discovered sometime back that had never had contact with the outside world. They had thier own "religion" (i really don't like that word) and so she began to study it. She said that all thier beliefs went parallel with what the Bible teaches even though they had never seen a Bible or would be able to read it if they did. The theogy of God, the son, sin, acceptence and repentence was all included. Not all tribes are this way, in fact most are not. I guess we can see why it's so important to support the missionaries in what they are called to do.

I have heard that children who die automatically go to Heaven because they do not know yet salvation, so if there are adults in the world who have sinned according to the Christian beliefs, but have never been told about God/Jesus, do they automatically go to Heaven because they did not know? Either way, it would not be fair, depending on which side you argue the point.

The point in which you are judged is determined by the time you understand fully right from wrong, sin from good. This is called by many the "age of accountability". For some this is 5 years old for example.. for some it 12 years old. Each person is different. If a baby dies this baby does NOT have the understanding of right and wrong and therefore would go to Heaven. The same would stand true for a retarted person or someone like that

So I guess all the Indians that were on this continent before us are in hell now to since none of them truly cared enough about seeking god to swim across the ocean and find out about him along with everyone else in history who failed to find you to learn about your god.  I'll bet all the native americans are upset to know that there ancestors are in hell because Columbus didn't get here fast enough to save them. Interesting read on the other post. Thanks for sharing it, saves ya alot of typing :D :D That may well be the way it is Turbomike but I sure hope not. Cause if thats the way it is and God has created so many people just to send them to hell through some silly set of rules then I probably wouldn't want to meet the guy or be in his heaven. I have a feeling that this life is just a test. You just keep taking it over and over again until you get it right. Theres alot of compelling research behind reincarnation. We have all met people that were overwhelming good and thoughtfull and caring. They didn't care about turbobuicks, or money or anything like that, all they cared about is helping people and doing good works. You meet alot of these in the peace corps, the church, missionaries, and charity organizations. When you meet someone like that you just know they are going to heaven, regardless of their religion. That might be the way it is, you just keep doing it over and over here until you get 'it' and when you do, then you move on. If thats the case though, I'll be back again and again and again. Should I start a cult?? LOL LOL LOL LOL:D :D :D Sorry to highjack the thread I'll quit now, and sorry if I ruffled any feathers but you always do when you ponder the imponderables.:)

PS: TurboMike I did read all your posts from the other thread and understand your frustration when people argued with you on the other thread without reading all your input. I'm glad religion changed your life and you found enlightenment.

Chris718--I will keep this brief, you long winded f**k,

1. Congratulations on knowing the meaning...... it wasn't a freakin' riddle, or anything.

2.LaVey completely shunned Ramirez as the sick f**k that he was.

3. I, unlike others here, have yet to type out 16 pages from this and that book that tell you how life should be lived, so why do you speak of LaVey (or anyone else) moulding people.

4. Christians look to convert, WE could give a $h!t less what you do. Have you ever had one of 'Us' sticking flyers in your door--trying to change your mind about anything.

If you live out of a dusty book, pick a more useful one. You dizzy s.o.b.s keep coming back with lines from your book as though it actually means something. It means nothing. From here on, you quote 'scripture', and I'll quote from the holy Harbor Freight catalog.........which is more useful....

 and yea, it did come to pass that Central Pneumatic did say unto the Dormorons:'Pistol grip gives excellent control, cuts through 18 guage sheet metal, aluminum and plastic like butter. Replaceable cutter.....' and so on until, sniveling, we went to spread the word amongst those most likely to be fooled. All those who question the word of 'Catalog' will be thrown to the fires in Gahenna, and will likely get bubbles in their airhose.....

So NJturbos, let me see if this is right. A child is born, and has some complications. He or she only lives a couple days, then dies. This child cannot go to heaven because it did not "know jesus"? Thats fair.

What if someone is severly retarded, and cannot understand what you are trying to tell them, and therefor does not accept jesus? Also going to hell?

Turbomike, you have contributed some very good info in those past posts. I am happy for you that you have found something that works for you. I think the main dispute when it comes to religions is when people try to be a strict christian, or whatever religion. Like you said before, one needs to read the bible and determine what it means to you. I could never place faith in a book written by man, nor could I be persuaded to believe in something by another man, unless he has real proof. Proof I can see, feel, and hear.

I think churches anymore have become businesses. Too many are all about money. Could someone explain to me why all these new churches need to be so elaborate? Would it not serve god better to build a modest church, and spend the rest of that money on people who might actually need it? I mean, heaven forbid they just use the "old" church. It didn't have all the amnemities of the new one. Church used to be about worship, and faith. Now its a joke. I know people who go to church because they think it will "cancel out" their sins. If those people go to heaven because they believe, I'd rather not be there anyway.

I don't understand how one can have such firm beliefs when there are so many possibilities? How do you know you are right? Because the preacher said so? Because your parents said so? Of the christians here, how many had christian parents? Do you think you would have the same beliefs if they weren't christain? Doubt it.
