Here's the story.....

"Witnesses say the motorcyclist was going faster than 100 miles per hour when he crashed into the back of a semi truck between 81st and 91st Street at about one o'clock Tuesday morning.

Investigators say evidence shows the motorcyclist was going about 120 miles per hour at the time of the impact. It took the truck driver more than a quarter of a mile to come to a stop. When he did, he stepped out of his rig and found the motorcyclist dead at the back of the truck.

"The truck driver was not hurt," says Captain Matt Kirkland. "He said that the impact was so strong that he thought he was hit from behind by another truck."

Officers said there was no indication that drugs or alcohol played a factor in the accident."

Well.....

1) what kind of bystanders can tell if a bike is going 50mph...80 mph...or 100mph...or 120 as it was determined he was actually going...

2) 1am in the morning? Are any witnesses out and about at that time sober?

3) a semi gets hit by a bike and thinks another semi rear ended him?

Still....."Snopes" says it is true.... but 2am :-)

I've said it before (and gotten torn apart for it) and I'll say it again, I have a hard time feeling bad for bikers who get injured. THEY DRIVE LIKE COMPLETE MORONS.

Yes of course when there's a bad cycle accident and the rider WASN'T at fault then I feel terrible, I know there are drivers out there who don't pay enough attention for cycles on the road, BUT when it comes to riders who think the world is their stunt course, CYA!

Hey, you've seen them too... Passing in a no passing zone, approaching a hill crest at a blind curve and they still do it. Can't protect the stupid people. A friend of mine got pulled over on his motorcycle, doing 85 in a 25mph school zone. The officer didn't even take his license! Got off with a warning. Yes school was in session that day.

And then there is this crap. Lane Splitting 101

It's a risky game.

That's f'd up. I can't imagine being the truck driver walking back and seeing that. I can think of about 1,000 other things I'd expect to see but not a dude hanging from the back by his head.

Is that the gas tank on that bike all mangled up? Almost looks like an air bag, which makes no sense.

It may have been bent from before, but look at the tubing "bumper" on the side of the trailer where the guy is at...It takes a heck of a lot to bend it like that!!! Had to have it HARD!!!

I've been looking for this pic for a while... it is possible it was the Kawi fork failure...

My nephew works for Yellow Freight and he told me about these picts a month or so after it happened, the regional manager had them on his laptop.
He does alot of the fuel lanes/maint on all the trucks and trailers. He said you can hardcore reverse slam a trailer into a dock in areas where that lower half will hit first and it wont even tweak it! He also said they were messing around trying to simulate the damage on the rear door on a junk parts trailer. They used 8 pound sledge hammers swinging as hard as they could and it would barely put a nick in it. I guess those rear doors are like 3/4inch oak thats laminated. The impact that must have took for the truck to be driving 55 mph and him to run into the back and do that kind of damage had to be insane. All the guys around his Yellow Frieght Hub said they think he was doing at least a 140 mph!

Man I hope that's staged but I doubt it with how some of these guys ride now.

But don't you see a huge ass semi even at 120mph on a road??

At first I thought the rig was parked on the side and this guy went around the car on the shoulder and nailed it but they say the driver felt the impact while driving. Damn, semi's generally are flying too at like 70mph so now think of that impact with the semi moving forward with him.

I think it's staged. First there is no blood anywhere. Second if he hit the truck going that fast, his left shoulder would have hit the frame of the door. The shoulder would have been crushed at that high of an impact. In the pics it's at the same level as his right. Third, his neck would be crushed down to his shoulders then the weight of his body would have stretched it out hanging like that so it should be longer.

So he is dragged 1/2 a mile or so and there is only a small blood trail from the tops of his feat being dragged? One would think his feet would have been ground down to the bone unless his boots or shoes came off just prior to his final rest. I have seen shoes, boots, feet, etc. come off after a MC collision but striking a truck at 100 mph+ would likely leave more physical evidence. And there is no blood stains on the jeans of his lower pant leg?

I guess stranger things have happened but it smells like BS to me. Anything can be stagged but when clicking on the link there appears to be more blood.
