ignition breaks up under boost.

put it in 2nd and slowly ran the rpms up ~4,000rpm any boost and the ignition breaks up horribly bad and the car falls on its face..

without boost near 4,500 it breaks up and the engine stops increasing in rpm, car falls on its face.

a friend sent me an 87 coil and module with the adapter, i just remembered about it today.. i put it on.. well the car acts better. it doesnt break up during the 2 scenarios above..

so i pop in the 41 pill, the smallest propane pill, to start tuning all over again.

~20mph in 1st gear WOT, boost gauge swings to 20 and the car pulls hard to 35mph and SHIFT and the car falls on its face as the ignition says JUST KIDDING. any mph in 2nd gear and the same thing happens till the shift to 2nd, and as the load increases with the shift.. BLALBHAlfhadfkhd .. car stops accelerating.

someone said this could be a maf problem... what do you guys think? ive got a friend who has a maf and chip i can borrow...

im figuring its not the coil/module cause although the new one (and it is supposedly brand new) still doesnt solve the problem.

on the plus side the cheetah is coming in fedex tomorrow. thanks dave!

Could be the maf, did you check the voltage to see what your alt is putting out, mine did this with a voltage problem at the alt and it also did something like this when my plugs died on me when i was tuning at high boost.

alt should be good, guess ill check it to make sure. plugs are nkg ur5's this problem just started one day though seems like plugs would slowly get worse..

Plugs gapped @ .032 ? My guess would be plug wires. May ohm out ok, but could be breaking down under a load, ie, runs ok until boost.

I chased this same problem for 3 days @ Bristol last fall. Looked at plug wires, ohmed them all, had even recently replaced half of them. Came home, checked all my valve springs, all sensors, all electrical, changed everything possible on the car. Nothing left but the plug wires. BINGO!!

I am with lee , i had the same problem with plug wire , as for the spark plugs the ones i used were only a week old and went bad in one day and fast.
