Hi guys,

Which set of adapters should I buy; these blues ones or these black ones on Ebay? Any other source? Also, the speakers I will be using are Infinity's Reference 9603i (6x9s) that I already have. I also have a set of Reference 3.5's as well. How do I install them in the dash? Simple procedure or do I have to take apart the dash? To install the door speakers do I have to take of the whole door panel or does the CSII cover come off. Some feedback would be greatly appreciated. By the way I have a stock radio with EQ; I want the car to remain stock.

Regards,

I boughtmine off of ebay. Only issue I had was teh x braces I installed in the trunk makes it a reeeaaal tight fit. They work though. Boston Acoustics here

I bought the "blue" ones from circuit city(6x9)adapters. I have Sony explodes in the backwith no issues really fitting. For your front 3.5" speakers, you'll have to pull the front dash cover off and you will see the speakers. Pull the door panel off for the door speakers, not hard at all, just be careful of some of the door speakers as some magnets are bigger than others and might hit the window going up and down.

Why not just go with the Kenwood 4X10s that they offer?

I want to go with 6x9s because I already have them. In addition, they sound better.

I used the blue ones that Crutchfield offers when you buy a 6X9 for a G body car. I prefer 6X9's over 4X10's. There's a bigger selection of them as opposed to 4X10's.

I have Polks in my car with the adapters, they fit good though kind of tight. I'm going to be installing my trunk braces soon and I hope they don't interfere.

As mentioned to install the speakers in the dash, you need to remove the dash cap. It's just a thin plastic piece held on by 9 of those star screws. Becareful when removing the dash cap as a lot of them by now are brittle or have cracks and can easily break/fall apart when removed. Yes they do make repops but they're expensive.

Also, I don't believe the dash cap will allow a speaker that has a much of protruding tweeter. In fact when I ordered speakers for mine Alpine made the only ones that had a perfect fit according to Crutchfield and they no longer make them. :frown:

I have the same speakers you do but was not very happy with the sound overall. If you check in the "audio" section you'll find posts where some of the gurus don't like to use speakers in the dash location.
I changed my setup to a component set in the kickpanels, left the 6X9's in the back and put a sub in the backseat area with no speakers in the doors or dash. Won't win any competition but sounds better than what I tried before.
Exhaust level has a lot of influence on your sound system.

I have pioneer 3.5" dash speakers, RF separates in the doors & pioneer 4x10's in the back. Had the dash speakers wired parellel off an Alpine V12 amp with the door speakers, the dash speakers just ruined the "soundstage". Sounds much better with out them. The rear deck speakers are getting to be 10 years old, and I just bought a set of the blue adapters so I can put in 6x9's. Oh yeah, if you do decide to use the dash speakers, you may have to mount them underneath the dash panel (Depending on how far the tweeter protrudes)

4 inch front speakers

With a little work you can install 4 inch speakers in the front. I put two additional 4 inch speakers in the center of the dash. They sound a lot better that the stock size.
