Helpful Info for Ordering Chips

When ordering a chip, here's what I like to know:

I will assume that the standard supporting equipment has been upgraded, like fuel pump, upgraded fuel pump wiring, adjustable pressure regulator, etc.

· Injector type

· Turbo

· Intercooler

· Torque converter

· Head modifications

· Camshaft

· MAF sensor (stock or MAF Translator setup)

· Boost control - stock solenoid, bleeder, adjustable wastegate rod?

· If you use a Scanmaster, what version (2.0, 2.1) and do you want the fast update code that speeds up the O2 and knock readings? You will lose the malfunction (MAL) readout with Scanmaster 2.1. With 2.0, you will lose IAC, CC, and MAL. You will gain pulsewidth (PL) and spark advance (SP) with either version.

· Does the speedometer work correctly, and is the ecm getting the correct mph (check scantool)?

· Are the transmission 3rd and 4th gear switches working correctly, so the ecm knows what gear you're in?

· What octane fuel will be used with the chip?

Tuning Stuff

· EGR function has been eliminated. This is not an emissions chip! The reason was to make room for other code changes. You will see 0% EGR duty cycle on scantools.

· The chip has open loop idle and the O2’s will typically settle around 780-820 at idle. (Again, not good for emissions.)

· I like to set up the IAC to be under 30. Usually around 5-10 in park and 20-30 in drive. It’s not super critical, just as long as its down around 30 or less.

· TPS needs to be under .48v for the program to recognize idle mode. Between .40 and .46 is a good place to be.

· Most chips are set up with a 800rpm idle. The 72/75’s are 850rpm and the 83/84’s are 900rpm.

· I calibrate the chips at about 43-45psi, but feel free to adjust it for your car.

· The estimated boost level may be written on the chip. Each car is a little different and may tolerate more or less boost

since you like to race it, just go ahead and get a race chip since you have so many street chips

tell him BW sent ya and im positive he can make the car even faster....:D

like JOEY said, get that EGT and you will dial that sucker in and HOLD ON:cool:
