I wish I was a little closer id let you take my car for mock up. I hope there is someone that can take you a car. Ive seen your down pipe and all I have to say is you have skills bro.

What ever happened to Lee Thompson? That is the downpipe I have on my car. Very nice piece.

I'm just going to come out an say it. You guys wonder why hot air parts are expensive. Several years back Brian bought my hot air downpipe (him and keith designed originally) to jig up and produce so us hot air guys could have a option for down pipes.
You guys just need to deal with the fact you don't have a intercooler car (more demand for parts) and you have a hotair. Parts will always be twice as much and that's just how it is.
I have almost custom made each and every one of my parts on my car. I have spent more money on this car then several of you combined. Am I hard headed yes. I come to terms with realizing I'm going to have to pay extra to have parts either made or bought do to the low numbers of hotair cars.
If you guys wanna build one off parts like me that's cool and I understand that. Why not build something that vendors don't carry and will help the future of the hotair cars.
If you want parts or want to know where I have had my parts made im always willing to share. Problem is hotair guys are cheap and don't want to pay. I've had several parts made because of the power I'm making.
Ok, ill get of my high horse. It's just frustrating that we hotair guys are shooting ourself in the foot. Buy parts from vendors who make parts for our cars and I'm sure prices will go down and more items will be made for them..

I think the price is high because he's the only one making them, if there was competition he'd have to bring the price down to stay competitive.

The price is high due to the low demand for the item the cost of the jig and getting someone to make it. If someone wants to build one and sell them for cheaper then by all means do it (sure that wont happen) That would give us hot air guys more options.
O and for him having to bring the price down, I doubt that. I want to see a down pipe that's as nice as Brians at a lower cost. If someone does make one then I would just tell Brian to stop making the one he has because there is no point as the cost vs profit isn't worth making. He has a business to run so he has to make something imop

If you knew Brian and they type of person he is, he's not the one to try and take advantage of people or make a quick buck off someone. You think he's making a killing on those downpipe. Think again. I'm surprised he even makes them. (THANKS BRIAN)
I'm truly surprised there are companies that want to make parts for our cars. All I see is negative comments about vendors and not enough thanks. Look at some of the great vendors that have gone away. I'm not surprised to say the least. It's just a matter of time before we lose more because you guys will never be happy with the price of the items. You want quality parts at China made prices.
I'm realizing again why I haven't been here latley. Problem is I have some good friends here on the board and it's hard not to cruise it.

I don't think Brian's parts are too expensive as a matter of fact I buy parts from him from time to time. I don't even think the down pipe is expensive either. If I didn't have to buy other stuff for my car and my kids i would have bought the down pipe already. Ill probably get one next year as I'm not even ready for it at this point in time.

Please listen to this advise from Brent, we used to have plenty of vendors. We are now down to a few and I don't need 5 finger to count them. 0 to 60, Postons, ATR, Bowling Green Custom, ESP and TurboMotion are ALL GONE. You could have got a 2 1/2 to 3 inch down pipe from these vendors. I got a garage full of parts and I have changed directions more times than I care to talk about. I have various parts from each vendor. I have said this before and I will say this again, it is your car and you can do what you like with it. $500+ is not a bad price for the headaches involved in building a stainless steel downpipe. Look at it this way, This will be the last time you will need one on your HA... unless your are Brent

With a total of 7602 HA cars, 40-45% have been coverted to intercooled, totaled and had a chevy motor stuffed in it. This would leave a estimated numbed of 4181 HA cars on the road. In 1986, GM built 7896 turbo cars and in 1987 they built 27,592 with a total of 35,488. Sorry for the history lesson, but you have to understand the market...

You're taking it too personal Brent. It was just a comment. I think it's pricey & I'd like to get a better deal on it just like the others that have commented on this thread. If he had a special on them I'd skip a meal to have one but at the price they're at its hard to swallow. Hope u don't take it wrong but u remember u tried to talk me down on a original hood liner from $600. To $300? So u see it's not just you looking for a better deal.

Here is my 2 cents worth. If you make a 3" d/p make it in 2 pieces. Turbo to valve cover area then valve cover to the exhaust pipe area. When you work on the motor just pull the top part off. See ya! John

Enjoy your new down pipe as it is a wise investment. I have a custom built integrated one that easily cost me one and a half times the GBody one. Mine is a 2 1/2 inch one which is plenty for a TA-33C. Merry Christmas

Thanks Brad you have your self a merry Christmas and evryone else too. I'll be looking forward to 2014 when im calling you to help me tune. I have BIG plans for my car and been hoarding parts even engines. I guess you can say that ill be a part of this HA community for a long time.

We are blessed by being in the Chicagoland area. There are a lot of smart people who can tune a hot air. BEATAV8 did mine simply by reviewing powerlogger files. Once you install a powerlogger, 3 bar MAP and a wideband 02 sensor you have the ability to record and analyze what your car is doing. Remember-hot air cars do not like a lot of timing-mine is at 16 degrees.
