Last night at the track, I spun #4. This was only the engine's second run down the track. It was sitting for over 6 years or so.

Anyways, I dropped the pan just now. Rod #4 suffered a spun bearing. The crank doesn't look too bad, but not good either. The ridges aren't too deep. I'm thinking of some fine sandpaper and another bearing ;) I probally wil not race the car again until the new motor gets done, but I at least want to drive it still.

Anybody ever have any luck doing this? If so, what did you do?

TIA

i did that to a buddys supercharged riviera. i even went with .020 on one rod and .010 on another rod....it lasted 3 days. so i wouldnt chance it. you will need a crank if you want it to last....just my opinion though

Your rod is going to need to be resized as well.
I do have some other piston and rods from another motor. I could pull the head and drop in a new piston/rod combo.

if the bearing spun it is dead. If the bearing just got slightly worn but did not spin - gamble, big gamble. however since you have some ridges - it sounds dead.

Did that to my GN.

Lasted 1.5 miles. Just long enough to fill up with 93 and limp back home. I pulled the engine and rebuilt the bottom end + timing chain.
