Let's say I do a converter that stalls at 2800......will this raise my rpm's on the highway in OD (which translates into loss of fuel economy at highway speeds, more stress on the tranny, etc). Dumb question, I know, but I am considering doing a converter and was curious if I'll sacrifice anything by raising the stall speed...

Thanks Zam70...

So, basically, the stall speed really comes into play in first gear only, but after the converter locks up, it's like the stocker. What confused me is that I've seen threads where people say the converter has hurt their mph in the quarter, yet their 60ft times improved.....

The stall speed effects all gears UNTIL it locks up (in 3rd & 4th only when at a steady cruising speed)
the biggest effect of a higher stall is had at launch
