Ok here is the long story short, put new tranny in and it shifted perfect for 5-6 miles or so, then it bagan to start out in 2nd gear and would not shift into 3rd till extremly late. I took the valve body down and found a check ball out of place, and fixed that. It began working pretty well but after about 10 miles it began doing the same thing. I went all out and pulled the valve body out and completely disassembled it and found a completly stuck 3-4 valve, and a TV plunger that was sticking once it came out past a certain point. After cleaning the whole thing and reassembling the valve body it worked better than ever with only a few random 2nd gear starts. After about 25 miles of driving it started doing the same thing. uggghhhhh. Here is what I've noticed, when it starts doing this, it really bangs into gear when put from park to drive(normally it just jumps a tiny bit). All the shifts are very late(including the 1-2 if I manualy drop it into low 1) and very hard (usually I just limp home in 2nd because 3rd won't shift until 65 or so and this was regular city streets) It basically feels like it is being fed way too much line pressure. I know this is not a valve body problem now, every valve in there worked perfect not a burr or hang up on any of them. What is left that could be a culprit? The pr valve in the pump? something with the governor? The Band or servo? The servo is a out of a 200 3spd and works great. I was able to move the output shaft via the driveshaft clockwise easily and counterclockwise with resistance but seemed just right clearance wise. I can push the band a little from under the car. Any ideas? anything would be great guys.
